ANDERSON, Chester Roland

Chester Roland Anderson was born on June 3rd 1919 to Andrew Tresk & Ida Marie [Johnson] Anderson in Hibbing, Minnesota.

Mr. Anderson inducted into the Army on June 19th 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. During leave he married Evelyn Elizabeth 'Tootsie' [Johnson].on November 17th 1942.

He served as a light truck driver with the Sixth Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop in New Guinea and Luzon Islands, Philippines. He rose to the rank of Sergeant.

SGT Anderson earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Bronze Service Arrowhead,
  • American Defense Service Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
  • Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, -and-
  • four overseas service bars.

 

SGT Anderson was honorably discharged on November 9th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

After the war he returned home to his wife and they started a family. Mr. Anderson died on December 11th 2005 at the age of 86 years old.
