Edward J. Kaiser

Edward J. Kaiser of Hibbing was inducted into the Army on May 28, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He was a Staff Sergeant and rifleman with Company F, 103rd Infantry Regiment.

He served thoughout the Pacific Theater, namely at Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons, Southern Philippines, and Luzon.

In his words, "Volunteered as a ''guinea pig'' in New Zealand for malaria, and was in the hospital for months. Received a citation from the government for this. No cure was found."

Me Kaiser received the: Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and six overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on October 22, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
