SALMI, Ernest Johannes

Ernest Johannes Salmi was born on July 2nd 1913 in Virginia, Minnesota.

Mr. Salmi enlisted for military service on January 13th 1944. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on January 19th 1944 during WWII. Home at entry: Makinen, Minnesota. 

He served aboard the USS YMS 80. He rose to the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class (MoMM(T)3/c).

He was honorably discharged on December 23rd 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After the war he returned home to his wife Senja [Maki] Salmi and they started a family.

Mr. Salmi died on February 2nd 1987 at 73 years of age. He is buried at Markham Cemetery in Makinen.
