Reino H. Salo was inducted into the Army on September 5, 1944 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Floodwood, Minnesota. 

He served as a Corporal with the Military Police Platoon of the 42nd Infantry "Rainbow" Division in the Rhineland and Central Europe.

He received the following: Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and one overseas service bar.

He was honorably discharged on May 9, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
