The following story was taken from an interview conducted by Mr. Joseph Biggio, a student at Ordean Middle School and grandson of Mr. Frank Skeie. The narrative tells the story of Skeie's experience in the army.
Frank Bruce Skeie volunteered for the draft and served in the Single Corp U. S. Army with the 74th Army in Europe. He served from June 1953 until April 1955 from the ages of 19 1/2 to 22 1/2. Skeie spent most of his time at C. Kelly Base in Germany. He also served at Fort Manmouth, New Jersey and Camp San Louis Obispo, California.
He was a Field Telephone Operator.
