John Holmstrom

The following story was taken from an interview conducted by Miss Jeana Dillon, a student at Ordean Middle School and granddaughter of Mr. John Holmstrom. The narrative tells the story of Holmstrom's experience in Korea in the occupational force.
John Holmstrom spent one year in Korea before the Korean war started; he had returned to the US by the time it began. He was located in Wonsan and HamHung in North Korea. While there, the Chinese entered the war.
He said of the Chinese, "There was about 200,000 of them. We had to get out of there. When we left, we could see them bombing the harbor."
