Linda Carter

Orr, MN native, Linda served in the Marine corps for 20 years. She trained at Parris Island, SC, Twenty-nine Palms, CA and Glenview, IL. She was transferred to communications electronics maintenance in Okinawa, Japan. later at Twenty-nine Palms, she was the chief instructor for an equipment theory course and was promoted to Sergeant. She also served in Albany, GA and El Toro, CA where she restructured a computer system. Later she was transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC to train as a radioactive technician specialist. She was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. Linda later returned to Okinawa and in 1995 was promoted to Master Sergeant. (Source: Virginia Area Historical Society Files)
