COUILLARD, Bruce Alvin

Bruce Alvin Couillard was born on December 3rd 1940 to Alvin Jay & Laura Sophia [Jensen] Couillard in Carlton, Minnesota.

His enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and began his tour on Vietnam on November 30th 1967. He served with the 7th Air Force, 504th Tactical Air Support Group, 19th Tactical Air Support Squadron.

CAP Couillard was killed in action on March 27th 1968 when his observation plane crashed northeast of Saigon in the Bihn Duong Province.

He earned the following merits for his service:

  • National Defense Service Medal,
  • Vietnam Campaign Medal,
  • Vietnam Service Medal,  -and-
  • Purple Heart (posthumously).

 

Captain Couillard's body was recovered and he was bured at Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota. He is also honored on the Vietnam Veterans War Museum in Washington DC.
