DISRUD, David Almer

David Almer Disrud was born on March 6th 1947 to Almer Henry & Anna M [Bourman] Disrud in Duluth, Minnesota. He went to Denfeld High School.

Mr. Disrud was enducted into the U.S. Army, He was assigned to Detachment C, 27th Maintenance Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He rose to the rank of Specialist 5 (SPC5).

SPC Disrud's tour of Vietnam began on November 30th 1967. He was killed in action on October 30th 1968 at 21 years of age. He was a passenger on a C-7A A/C helicopter when it crashed near Huế, Thừa Thiên-Huế Provice in South Vietnam.

SPC Disrud earned the following merits during his service:

  • Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Service Star,
  • Vietnam Campaign Medal,  -and-
  • National Defense Service Medal.

 

His remains were returned home and buried at Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
