SETTERQUIST. Francis Leslie

Francis Leslie Setterquist was born on October 5th 1941 to Leslie Mahan & Opal Ann [Current] Setterquist. His hometown was Cloquet, Minnesota. He atteded the Air Force Academy and graduated in 1966.

Mr. Setterquist  enlisted on June 8th 1966 during the Vietnam War.. He was assigned the 7th Air Force, 432nd actical Reconnaissance Wing, 14th Tactical Fighter Squadron based out of Udorn Air Force Base, Thailand. He was the aircraft commander on an RF4C Phantom. He rose the the rank of Captain (CPT)

His plane is believed to have gone down in North Vietnam. Vietnamese newscasters announced that a Phantom had been shot down, but no mention of the two passengers was noted.

It is believed that Captain Setterquists's co-pilot, Charles Bergiven, also died as a result. He was reported missing in action on August 23, 1968. He was officially declared dead by the U.S. Air Force in 1976.

CPT Setterquist is listed on the 'Courts of the Missing' in the National Cemetery of the Pacific ("Punchbowl"). His memorial grave is at USAF Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
