BUAN, Lee Bjarne

Lee Bjarne Buan was born on June 22nd 1947 to Bjarne J Haldorsen & Katherine Edith [Anderson] Buan.in Duluth, Minnesota.

Mr. Buan was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 3rd 1967. His specialty was Light Weapons Infantry. He was assigned the 'B' Company, 1sr Battalion, 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Divivsion, USARV. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

Their unit was assigned to Pleiku Province in South Vietnam. South Vietnam, Buan was killed while serving in action on May 20, 1967 in hostile action. He was 19 years old.

PFC Buan eraned the following merits for his service:

  • National Defence Service Medal,
  • Combat Intantryman Medal,
  • Vietnam Campaign Medal,
  • Vietnam Service Medal, -and-
  • the Purple Heart.

 

He is buried at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery in Hermantown, Minnesota. He is also honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
