Nicholas Charles Stefanich

Nicholas Charles Stefanich was born on September 28, 1948 to Joseph Matt & Ann Margaret “Inky” [Grahek] Stefanich in Tower, Minnesota.

Mr. Stefanich enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 25th 1969. His tour of Vietnam began December 4th 1969 with a Light Weapons Infantry. He was assigned the 5th Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry Regiment, B Company. He rose to the rank of Specialist 4th Class (SP4).

Specialist Stefanich was tragically killed in action on August 31st 1970 at 22 years of age. The explosives incident occured in Quang Tri Province in South Vietnam. His body was recovered and returned home. He is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Tower.
