GOAD, Robert Lee

Robert Lee Goad was born on March 14th 1934 to George Everett & Alma Margaret Andress [Clements] Goad in Cloquet, Minnesota, Mr. Goad married Florence Elaine Mavis [Hanson] in 1957.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 17th 1952. He was stationed in Germany, England, and California before his tour of Vietnam. He was assigned to 3rd Field Maintenance Squadron. He rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSGT).

On January 27th 1968, he died of a heart attack while serving with the Air Force in Ben Hoa Province of South Vietnam. He was just 35 years of age.

He earned the following merits for his service:

  • Gold Star,
  • National Defense Service Medal,  -and-
  • Vietnam Campaign Medal, 

 

SGT Goad's body was returned home and buried at Silver Brook Township (Macabec) Cemetery in Wrenshall, Minnesota. He is honored on the National Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall in Washington DC. He is also honored on the Wall of Remembrance in the Veterans Memorial Hall Gallery at the DEPOT in Duluth, Minnesota.
