TUPA, Bernhard Ylatupa

Bernhard Ylatupa Tupa was born on May 21st 1898 to Victor Juhonpoika & Helena Andersintytar [Gabrielsson] Ylatupain in Finland and they emmigrated to Hibbing, Minnesota

Mr. Tupa entered the U.S. Army on June 2nd 1917 during WWI. He sailled aboard the USS Saxon out of New York City to Europe.

He served as a horseshoer with Battery 'B' of the 125th Field Artillery, 59th Field Artillery Brigade, 34th Division. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Tupa was honorably discharged on January 22nd 1919, After the war he returned home and married Charlotte [Andrews] and they started a family. His son Robert Bernard Tupa served in the Army as well during WWII.

Mr. Tupa died on November 30th 1966 at 68 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
