RUSSELL, Roy William

Roy William Russell was born on January 5th 1890 to his father, William & Pauline Russell in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Mr. Russell entered the U.S. Army in 1911 when he was 21 years old. He enrolled in 2nd Officers Training on August 27th 1917 at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant (1LT).

LT Russell was called to active duty on November 17th 1917 during WWI. He was assigned to 6th Company, 2nd Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade.

He was honorably discharged on December 5th 1918 from Camp Grant, Illinois. After the war he married Geraldine Jane [Jacobi] in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 22nd 1918 and they started a family.

Their first child was Ernestine Jane Geraldine was born on June 21st 1921, in Bemidji, Minnesota. She would become the famous movie celebrity Jane Russell. 

Mr. Russell died on July 18th 1937 in Los Angeles, California, when he was 47 years old. He is buried at Vallhala Memorial Park Cemetery in North Hollywood, California.
