Albert Ginsberg

GINSBERG, Alan

Albert Ginsberg was born on July 5th 1923 to Charles & Bertha [Rutstein] Ginsberg in Grand Forks, North Dakota. His family migrated to Hibbing Minnesota.

Mr. Ginsberg was inducted into the Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet May 25th 1943, Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He was commissioned into service as a 1st Lieutenant. He served as a navigator with the 385th Bomber Group in Central Europe during World War II.

LT. Ginsberg was awarded the following for his service:

  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

He was relieved from active duty June 30th 1947 at Camp Stoneman, California. After the war he returned home and married Adeline “Addy” [Berkowitz] Ginsberg.

He died on December 2nd 1968 in Hibbing at the age of 68 years. He is buried at the Hebrew Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin.
