POLENIK, Aleck John

Aleck John Polenik was born on March 30th 1917 to John & Ludvika “Lucy” [Shymus] Polenik in Bear River, Minnesota.

Mr. Polenik was inducted into the U.S. Army on November 13th 1941, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as a bandsman (clarinet) with the 324th Army Service Forces Band during WWII. He rose to the rank of Technician 5th Grade (TEC5).

TEC Polenik earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Defense Service Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

He was honorably discharged December 6th 1945, at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. After the war he returned home and married Margaret Ann Senese.

Mr. Polenik died on March 20th 1988 in Hibbing, Minnesota. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm, Minnesota.
