Alfred E. Persch, Sr.

Alfred E. Persch, Sr. entered the Navy in September, 1942. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.

He served as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class aboard the USS Prairie State, USS Saturn, and battleship USS Wisconsin in the Philippines, Luzon, Samar, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater.

He was awarded the following: Citation for bravery for assisting in engine room while under attack at Iwo Jima, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Mr. Persch was honorably discharged in February 1946.
