Andrew W. Wiinanen

Andrew W. Wiinanen was inducted into the Army Air Corps on March 10, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Iron, Minnesota.

He served as a Staff Sergeant, aircraft maintenance technician with the B-17 bomb group in Leicester, England, Kings Cliff P-38 Fighter group; as a crew chief with the 94th Bomb Group (B-17); and as a propeller specialist with the Fourth Fighter Group (P-47s) in the Air Offensive Europe.

Mr. Wiinanen received the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, World War II Victory Medal, and five overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945, at Camp Grant, Illinois.
