STEWART, Archie Montgomery

Archie Montgomery Stewart was born on August 6th 1909 to John McKenzie & Elizabeth "Lizzie" [McIntyre] Stewart in Virginia, Minnesota.

Mr. Stewart enlisted in the military on July 22nd 1943 and entered service in the U.S. Army on August 11th 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Brittmount, Minnesota.

He served as a truck driver in the Pacific. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Stewart earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

Mr Stewart was honorably discharged on December 5th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

After the war he returned home and married Violet Ida [Ebert] in 1954 and they raised a family.

Mr Stewart died on July 5th 1987 at the age of 77 years. He is buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Buhl, Minnesota.
