Arthur C. Johnson of Tower, Minnesota enlisted in the Army on November 12, 1939 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He was a staff Staff Sergeant and platoon sergeant.

He joined the 4th Cavalry (Horse) at Fort Meade, Md.,in January, 1942. The 3rd Cavalry was reorganized at Camp Gordon, Ga. He served with Headquarters and Headquarters Service Troop of the 3rd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was wounded in action on March 16, 1945.

Mr. Johnson was awarded the: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal with overseas clasp, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on August 25, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
