Bernard Newman

Bernard Newman of Eveleth, Minnesota entered active Army service on Oct. 29, 1942.

He was a Commissioned 1st Lieutenant, and a field artillery commander in Battery B in the 337th Field Artillery Battalion of the 88th Infantry Division in Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, Italy. He was wounded in action May 5, 1944, Italy.

Mr. Newman received the: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with two bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was discharged February 3, 1946.
