Chester C. Paul

Chester C. Paul of Hibbing, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on April 16, 1942.

He was a Technician 5th Grade and a driver-auto mechanic with Troop D, 23rd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 90th Infantry Division in northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He said: "I was wounded in action on Dec. 25, 1944 in the leg, hand, and above my left eye. I was promised the Purple Heart but never got it."

Mr. Paul received the: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with bronze service arrowhead for D-Day plus-2 in Normandy, Meritorious Service Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was discharged on Oct. 23, 1945.
