Clayton E. Johnson

Clayton E. Johnson of Eveleth enlisted in the Army Air Corps on August 28, 1942.

He was a Staff Sergeant serving iin Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe.and Germany.

Mr. Johnson received the: Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Air Crewman badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on October 22, 1945.

He was later commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in January, 1949, and served with Battery B of the 63rd Field Artillery Batalion and 24th Infantry Regiment as a motor transport officer.

Mr. Johnson was awarded the: Army of Occupation Medal (Japan).

He was separated from the service on October 20, 1949 at Camp Stoneman, Calif.
