Clifford H. Kippley enlisted in the Naval Reserve on November 5, 1942.

He was a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate aboard the USS Trianculum (AK 102) and the USS YP 626 in the Pacific Theater and in the United States.

He participated in a convoy that towed sections of a floating dry dock from Mare Island, California, to Manus Island in the Pacific, and in hauling dry stores from Australia to supply the 7th Fleet in the New Guinea area. He also helped haul the 1881st Army Engineers from New Guinea to the invasion of Hollandia in the Dutch East Indies.

He saw the USS Mount Hood, an ammunition ship, blow up 4 miles behind his ship. He was later reassigned to the United States.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

He was honorably discharged on February 8, 1946 at Minneapolis, Minn.
