LUCAS, Conrad Raymond

Conrad. Raymond "Ray" Lucas was born on Febrauary 16th 1915 to Frank & Mary [Kaluza] Lucas in Browerville, Minnesota, He graduated from Browerville High School in 1933.

Mr. Lucas of Chisholm, Minnesota was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 1st 1943 during WWII. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the European theater.

He was a medical and sanitary technician in the 220th General Hospital and 65th General Hospital in Rhineland and Ardennes from October 1943 to March 1946. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Clas (TEC4).

TEC Lucas earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • two overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on March 26, 1946 at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. He returned home and married Ruth Eleanore Aarni. He shared, "After two days of processing (for 1946 discharge at Camp McCoy) [I went] back to Chisholm, where he saw his daughter, who was one week short of one year."

Mr. Lucas died at age 92 in Chisholm, Minnesota, on July 15th 2007. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
