Dan Surla

Dan Surla entered the Army on July 14, 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

He served as a Technician Fifth Grade and truck driver with the 1301st Engineer General Service Regiment in the European and Pacific Theaters in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.

Mr. Surla was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal , European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, three overseas service bars, and Philippine Liberation Medal.

He was honorably discharged on January 14, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
