Donald B. Burton

Mr. Burton inducted into the Army on June 20, 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Virginia, Minnesota.

He served as a First Sergeant with Company L of the 381st Infantry Regiment in the Southern Philippines and the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa). He was wounded in action on April 29, 1945.

He received the following: Soldiers Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for subsequent award, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, and two overseas service bars.

Mr. Burton was honorably discharged on October 4, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
