Earl L. Thorp

Earl L. Thorp entered the Army on July 1, 1942.

Mr. Thorp served as an enlisted man with the 95th Division in the continental U.S.

Commissioned on June 3, 1943, assigned executive officer with the 578th Field Artillery. He served in Omaha Beach, Normandy, Northern France, Belgium (Ardennes), and Central Europe.

He was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal (during the Battle of the Bulge).

Mr. Thorp was discharged February 1, 1946, appointed Captain in the Army Reserve. Promoted to Major in 1959. Retired as a Major in 1961.
