PARPOVICH, Edward Leo

Edward Leo Parpovich was born on January 17th 1924 to Samuel & Mary [Malerich] Parpovich in Hibbing, Minnesota.

Mr. Parpovich was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 30th 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing.

He served as a telephone and telegraph lineman in Rhineland and Central Europe. He served in both the European and the Pacific Theaters during WWII. He rose to the rank of Technician Fourth Grade (TEC4).

TEC4 Parpovich earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal,
  • two overseas service bars,  -and-
  • Philippines Liberation Medal.

 

He was honorably discharged on January 13th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war, he returned home.

Mr. Parpovich died on Janaury 29th 1975 at 58 years of age in the Twin Cities. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hivving.
