ESTNESS, Edward Leonard

Edward Leonard Estness was born on April 2nd 1918 to John O. & Marie [Larson] Estness in Duluth, Minnesota.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 23rd 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was assigned several ships, including aircraft carriers, in his naval career:

  • USS Wasp (CV-18),  12/21/1940,  Sea1/c;
  • USS Essex (CV-9),  3/4/1944,  AOM3c;  -and- 
  • USS Randolph (CV-15),  9/16/1946,  AOM2c.

 

After the war he returned home and he worked as a fireman in the Duluth Fire Department.

Mr Estness died on November 22nd 1992 at the age of 74 years. He is buried at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
