TAKALA, Eino Valentine

Eino Valentine Takala was born on January 31st 1920 to Valentin & Lytia [Aho] Takala in Cook, Minnesota.

Mr. Takala entered the Army May 4th 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Angora, Minnesota.

Mr. Takala served as a Private and cannoneer with Company B of the 10th Mountain Infantry Antitank Battalion in Northern Apennines and Po Valley, Italy. He rose to the rank of Private First Class.

PFC Takala was awarded the following:

  • Combat Infantryman Badge,
  • Bronze Star Medal,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

PFC Takala was honorably discharged January 31st 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

Mr. Takala died on January 24th 1962 at the age of 41. He is buried at Alango Cemetery in Angora, Minnesota.
