FLAADA, Ernest Melvin

Ernest Melvin Flaada was born on May 11th 1919 to Albert & Lydia Marie [Makela] Flaada in Makinen, Minnesota.

Mr. Flaada was inducted into the Army on June 23rd 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He served as a Technician 4th Grade with Headquarters and Service Company of the 539th Amphibious Tractor Battalion. He participated the liberation of the Southern Philippines.

Mr. Flaada was awarded the following:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Philippine Liberation Medal, -and-
  • two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on January 13th 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
