Evelyn L. Wahlquist of Hibbing entered the service with the American Red Cross in 1941. She served as a recreational director in the U.S. Japan, and Guam. While in Guam she had a buttercup-yellow Jeep but, before returning to the U.S., traded the Jeep for a Japanese mink jacket. She was discharged in 1967.
