Frank O. Thronson

Frank O. Thronson was born July 17, 1920, to Robert and Lena (Gerjets) Thronson in Maxbass, N.D.

Mr. Thronson enlisted in the Army on May 9th 1942 at entry point of Missoula, Montana. He rose to the level of Warrent Officer TEC5. He served with the 358th Infantry Cannon Company in central Europe and then in the Aleutian Islands..

After the war, Mr. Thronson was a truck driver hauling freight to Alaska on the Alcan Highway and drove cat trains to the Northslope. He worked in logging, over the road trucking and construction. He was a consultant for the Alyeska Pipeline in the early 1970s. He started Heatherly & Sons Co., I.J. Trucking Co., Sky Hills & Sand Hills Gravel & Construction Co. while in Alaska.

In December 1980 Mr. Thronson moved home to Hibbing. He loved and enjoyed every minute with his family and he raised horses and beef cattle and farmed. He also started the American Bio Energy wood pelletizing plant in Gilbert and several other ventures in Minnesota.

Mr. Thronson's brother Donovan (Don) also served in WWII with the Army Air Corps. Don H. Thronson | Veterans Memorial Hall (vets-hall.org)
