Fred D. Hoover

Fred D. Hoover, Jr. enlisted in the Naval Reserve on October 29, 1940.

He was commissioned Lieutenant, pilot in the Pacific Theater. He was a Naval aviator on the aircraft carriers USS Enterprise and USS Hornet. He also served aboard battleship USS Wyoming.

Mr. Hoover was awarded the Silver Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster, Presidential Unit Citation (VF 42), Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with seven battle stars and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged November 7, 1945 in Fla.
