George Anderson of Mountain Iron was inducted into the Army on Aug. 1942. He was a private first class and a driver-mechanic with Company B, 62nd Signal Battalion in Italy, seeing action at Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley and in the Pacific Theater.He received the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal; European, African, Middle East Campaign Service Medal and four overseas service bars. He was discharged on Nov 29, 1945.
