George Kauppila

George Kauppila was inducted into the Army on April 28, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home of entry: Buhl, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class and heavy machine gunner with Company C of the 804th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines, and Po Valley, Italy.

Mr. Kauppila was awarded: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars. 

He was honorably discharged September 14, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
