Harold A. Jokela entered the Army on May 2, 1942.

He served as a Sergeant and squad leader with Company L, 338th Infantry Regiment of the 85th Infantry Division of the Fifth Army in Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Vally, Italy.

Mr. Jokela was awarded the: Presidential Unit Citation (capture of Monte Altuzzo during the breakthrough of the Gothic Line in Italy in 1944.), Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign, Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945.
