Harry T. Anderson

Harry T. Anderson of Ely enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 14, 1941. He graduated from the University of the Air in Corpus Christi, Tex., and was commissioned as 2nd lieutenant. He was a pilot in the Marine Corps Air Service. He went overseas in 1942 and served on Guadalcanal. He completed 37 missions flying Douglas SBD dive bombers. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service medal with four battle stars. He was discharged as a colonel in 1968.
