Henry entered World War II in 1942, working as a Phm. 3/C recruiter in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He received an Ensign commission and was sent to Guam. Active Duty included staff duty on Guam during the duration of WWII. During the Korean War, he was on staff duty in Japan. After 21 years of service, he retired as a Lt. Sr. Grade. He returned home to resume teaching, coaching and living in Proctor, Minnesota.

Henry is now living with his wife Eleanor in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Henry, being one of 6 brothers born to Erich and Ella Chapman in Minneapolis, also submits the wartime responsibilities assumed by his 5 brothers, who are now deceased.
