Irene (nee Niemi) Maki

Irene Maki (nee Niemi) entered into the  Army Nurse Corps active duty on October 6, 1941. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

She was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and served as a registered nurse with the 49th Station Hospital in the European Theater of Operations.

Ms. Maki was awarded the following: American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars. 

She was relieved from active duty on December 24, 1945.
