JANESKI, Isadore Michael

Isadore Michael Janeski was born on April 3rd 1911 to Michael S. & Anna Cypriana Pluto [Prodinsky] Janashak (aka Janeski) in Lebanon, Oregon (North Dakota?). By 1920 the family had moved to northeastern Minnesota. He married Rose Agnes [Cech] on November 28th 1940.

Mr. Janeski enlisted for military service on September 9th 1943 during WWII. He entered the U.S. Army on October 7th 1943 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served as an armorer with Company A of the 138th Ordnance Maintenance Battalion in Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).

TEC Janeski earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • one overseas service bar.

 

He was honorably discharged February 3rd 1946 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. After the war he returned home to his wife.

Mr. Janeski died on January 30th 1987 at 66 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota.
