WESTERLUND, Iver Alfred

Iver Alfred Westerlund was born on January 23rd 1918 to Alfred M. & Ellen [Lind] Westerlund in Aurora, Minnesota.

Mr. Westerlund enlisted in the regular U.S. Navy on August 29th 1939. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

Mr. Westerlund served as a Chief Pharmacist's Mate (CPhM) aboard the USS English (DD 696), USS Relief (APH 11), and at various Naval stations in the European and Pacific Theaters and the U.S. during WWII.

CPhM Westerlund earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Defense Service Medal with bronze star,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

He was honorably discharged on March 15th 1946, at USN Hospital, Oakland, California. After the war he returned home and maried Mary Ann [Selesnik] and they started a family.

Mr. Westerlund died on November 22nd 1984 at 66 years of age. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
