FURTMAN, James Francis

James Francis Furtman was born on January 6th 1921 to August Joseph & Rose Mary Wamser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mr. Furtman enlisted in the National Guard in Duluth, Minnesota on February 1940 as a member of the 125th Field Artillery.

He was activated with the unit on February 10th 1941 and served in Italy, North Africa, and Northern Ireland. They were part of 1st Battalion 34th Infantry "Red Bull Division." They distinguished themselves as having been part of "Patton's Boys," 

He was a medic (TEC5) and reached a top rank of First Sergeant. (1SGT).

Mr. Furtman died on April 25th 2011 at 90 years of age in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Duluth.
