James G. Graton

James G. Graton was inducted into the Army on July 11, 1941.

He served as a Technician 5th Grade and light truck driver with Headquarters Company of the 1111th Engineer C Group in Normandy and Rhineland. He was wounded in action in Normandy by shrapnel on July 20, 1944. He was hospitalized at the 52nd Army General Hospital.

Mr. Graton was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged Oct. 23, 1945 at Camp U.S. Grant, Ill.
