John C. McLaughlin

John C. McLaughlin entered the Merchant Marine Academy in New London, Conn., on June 27, 1941.

He was commissioned as an Ensign and was the engineering officer on the SS Charles R. McCormick and SS Boone Island in the Atlantic and Pacific.

"We spent months in the Pacific on a ship with no escort and carrying 10,000 tons of high explosives."

He was separated in February 1946.
