John A. Hakala

John A. Hakala of Embarrass, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army Air Corps on April 16, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Corporal iwith the 70th Troop Carrier Squadron of the 433d Troop Carrier Group in New Guinea, Northern Solomon Islands, Bismarck Archipelago, Western Pacific, Southern Philippines, Luzon and Ryukyu Islands.

Mr. Hakala was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and four overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged Oct. 30, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
