John Leo Vizanko

John Leo Vizanko entered the Army Air Corps in June 1942.

Mr. Vizanko was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and served as a navigator on B-17 Flying Fortress bombers with the 354th Bomb Squadron of the Eighth Air Force in the Air Offensive Europe.

He participated in bombing missions on key war plants in Munich, Brunswick, Northern France, and Berlin.  He also participated in the invasion bombardment of Caen, France.

Mr. Vizanko was awarded the: Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on October 16, 1945, at Scott AFB, Illinois.
