John M. Begich

Mr. Begich inducted into the Army on May 30, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

He served as an antiaircraft crewman with Battery D of the 431st Anti-Aircraft Automatic Weapons Battalion in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was wounded in action in Germany on April 26, 1945.

He received the following: Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars.

Mr. Begich was honorably discharged on May 10, 1946, at O'Reilly Army General Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
